FOR ABINGTON RESIDENTS
APPLY FOR OR RENEW YOUR FIREARMS LICENSE
All Applicants:
If you are seeking a new or renewal of an License to Carry (LTC) or Firearms Identification Card (FID)
Log in or create an account on the MIRCS Firearms Licensing Portal, then complete and submit the online application through the portal.
Download and complete the LTC/FID Application, and schedule your in-person appointment with the Abington Police Department online.
Provide all the information that is requested on the form. Failure to provide information or providing false information will result in the denial of the application and can result in the Abington Police Department seeking a criminal complaint in the district court.
Firearms Licensing Procedure:
Applicants must be citizens of the United States of America, or Lawful Permanent Resident Aliens.
Applicants must be a resident of Abington.
All new applicants will be fingerprinted, renewals as necessary.
A Basic Firearms Safety Course Certification is statutorily required for applicants for a License to Carry (LTC) and/or Firearms Identification Card (FID).
You MUST answer all the questions truthfully. Please pay particular attention to Question #4: Have you ever been arrested or appeared in any court as a defendant for any criminal offenses? This includes:
All adult and juvenile appearances.
A sealed record
All court appearances. It does not matter if you were found not guilty, or if the charges were dismissed, or continued with out a finding.
Having been arrested and convicted of a crime does not necessarily prohibit you from getting an LTC, or FID. Failing to disclose this information on an application will result in a denial.
APPEARED does not necessarily mean arrested. Appearances by an attorney on your behalf must be disclosed.
Some traffic violations are criminal. If you're unsure, please ask.
If your LTC/FID is about to expire, let us know so we can try to get you renewed before the expiration date. If the licensee applies for renewal before the license expires, the license shall remain valid after its expiration date for all lawful purposes until the application for renewal is approved or denied.
On the date of your in-person appointment, bring the following required documentation and fees. These items should not be dropped off in the lobby prior to your appointment, as they must be presented in person:
