Comprehensive Permits
What is a Comprehensive Permit?
A 40B Comprehensive Permit is a type of state permit used for the construction of low- and moderate-income housing. The ZBA, the applicant, and the public work together through a series of public hearings to find common ground. The ZBA then creates a finalized set of conditions for the applicant to begin construction.
For more details on the Comprehensive Permit process, check out the Massachusetts Housing Partnership “Chapter 40B Handbook”
