Southfield Redevelopment Authority

The Southfield Redevelopment Authority is the local governmental agency at the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station.
The 1,400-acre community of Union Point (formerly SouthField) is located within the three host communities of Abington, Rockland and Weymouth.

Established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Legislature as the South Shore Tri-Town Development Corporation and reconstituted in August 2014 as the Southfield Redevelopment Authority to reinforce municipal control over land-use and development decisions affecting each of the three towns.

Presently, Southfield Redevelopment Authority is in the process of adopting a new reuse plan which will affect Abington.  We anticipate that they will be asking the residents of Abington to amend the current zoning sometime in the next year.
