Abington Police & Community Counseling of Bristol County (CCBC) establish partnership to onboard Co-Response Clinician

Chief Majenski, along with the men and women of the Abington Police Department would like to welcome our new Co-Response Clinician, Julie Greenough, to our team. 

Our partnership aims to re-direct individuals committing non-violent offenses from the criminal justice system to more appropriate community-based behavioral health services. We are proud to have partnered with Community Counseling of Bristol County to bring Julie on board to work with our patrol units. 

Our officers face many challenging calls daily, and we continue to see an increase in calls for mental health services. Julie will be partnering with our officers to provide residents facing mental health crises and trauma with an immediate resource. Julie will also follow up on cases, referring those in need to treatment providers and services as needed. Officers can also make a referral to the clinician to follow up on a case or situation that they deem necessary.

This program was made available through a comprehensive grant project completed by Sergeant Brian Feely with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. The grant will cover the cost of the clinical services provided by Julie, her equipment needed and advanced Crisis Intervention training for our officers. 

This would not have been possible without the letters of support provided by the Abington Veterans Agent Adam Gunn, Abington Public Health Nurse Lindsay Wright, and Abington Public School Nurse Sarah Lapointe.

We are excited about her joining and we look forward to introducing Julie throughout Abington in the coming weeks.
