Abington Police Awarded Gold Award for Traffic Safety from AAA Northeast, and Officer John Sayers named Traffic Safety Hero
The Abington Police Department has been awarded a Gold Award for traffic safety from AAA Northeast, and Officer John Sayers has been named Traffic Safety Hero for his work on improving traffic safety in the Town of Abington for 2023.
The AAA Community Traffic Safety Awards Program honors police departments and individual officers who go above and beyond in their efforts to promote traffic safety. The Abington Police Department was recognized on Friday, October 18th by AAA Northeast at its Awards Luncheon for its efforts to use patrol, enforcement to enhance roadway safety, educational and outreach programs focused on distracted, and impaired driving, motorcycle safety, and speed enforcement, as well as the implementation of a child safety seat installation program.
In addition, Officer John Sayers was named Traffic Safety Hero by AAA Northeast for his exceptional dedication, and proactive measures in traffic safety throughout 2023. His commitment to enforcing proper child safety restraints has been commendable, reflecting his focus on protecting the most vulnerable passengers. Further, Officer Sayers has made numerous arrests for operating under the influence, including a significant case involving a female driver with two children in her vehicle. Officer Sayers has highlighted vigilance, and exemplary judgement in his enforcement duties which have further contributed to overall road and traffic safety.
